| I was born, raised, and still live in the big city of Pasadena Texas and Texas Proud. My mother tells everyone that I was riding a horse before I was born. I still live on the land my grandparents purchased in the early 50's. Also, in 2006, I re-married my one and only true love Ron. He has made my dreams come true - I was able to retire from my 20 year job at Construction Systems, purchased a brand new living quarter trailer, a new truck, and then purchased a son of Frenchmans Guy. Dreams Can Come True!!! I started riding horses as I can remember around the age of 4, saddeling a mare called "Big Sally", my grandfather's buggy mare. I would saddle her up, by myself, walk her to the back of the pasture, find a small sand pile, crawl up on her and lope her to the front of the pasture, then get off and repeat. She was not really saddle broke so I did the best I could. I've had many wonderful horses in my life and in 1966 my grandmother purchased an Appaloosa stallion (later gelded) by the name of Sunspot App, we won many playdays together. Then there was Miss Aggie Bars - purchased for my father, but as always, I ended up with her. My parents had her trained for western pleasure and reining, but one day in an open field I found out how fast she was, so on the playday trail we went, and as with Sunspot, we won many. The next horse that really comes to mind was a gelding by the name of Dexs Leo owned by an old boyfriend of mine, his nickname was "Good" and that he was. It was around this time I stopped riding, raising my son Justin and doing other things. Then the bug hit again, this was when the playdays stopped and the barrel racing began. Here is a list of some of the accomplishments and horses that I can remember: Mink O Jet (1983 AQHA Mare)- aka "Mickie" (Multiple AQHA Points) - 1992 3rd place Novice Horse of the Year- GCBRA , 1992 Greater Houston Quarter Horse Show Circuit Champion. Sold for High School/College Rodeo in 1993. Miss One Fox (1991 AQHA Mare)- aka "Dixie" - (ROM Barrels) 1995 Greater Houston Quarter Horse Show Circuit Champion, 1995 Top 20 (with minimum showing) Novice Horse of the Year - GCBRA, 1996 3rd Place Novice Horse of the Year - GCBRA, 1997 Open Champion M-M Rodeo Circuit, 1997 Reserve Champion 40 and Over - GCBRA, 1997 7th place Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo AQHA, 1999 1D Open Champion - GCBRA. 2000 2D Open Champion - GCBRA. Many Open Rodeo and Divisional Wins during these years, cannot remember all to list. When she showed up people would come up and ask me to run the open time for them, because at any time she could do it. I still own her, she will never be sold, she has had three foals by my paint stallion "Sly" - one which has passed on - Be On The Sly, one breaking at this time Specialeyes Harley, and one I recently sold to Leigh Stumfoll from Victoria Texas, One Sly Cookie. "Dixie" was bred in 2006 to Shelly and Billy Martin's nice stallion Firewater Ta Fame, and foaled a nice bay stud colt we will register as One Gun Ta Fame, aka "Scoot. Specialeyes (1995 APHA Stallion) - aka "Sly" - World Champion (ROM Barrels-Open and Amt, PAC Certificate of Recognition and Achievement) 1999 Top 15 Novice Horse of the Year - GCBRA, 2000 3rd Place Novice Horse of the Year - GCBRA, 2001 Champion Barrels at Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo - APHA, 2001 Top Ten APHA World Show, 2003 Champion Barrels at Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo - APHA, 2004 Top Ten APHA World Show, 2005 World Champion APHA World Show, 2005 1D Open 3rd place - GCBRA, 2005 1D Open 3rd Place - NBHA #34, 2005 1D Champion Senior Division - NBHA #34, qualifing us for the 2006 NBHA World Show Augusta Georgia in 2 spots, 2005 Superior Barrel Horse - APHA, 2005 Champion Honor Roll Horse of the Year - APHA. "Sly' also has won many Open and Divisional titles during these years, to many to remember. The one thing about him he gives his all everytime out, he has such a big heart and try. And also, he has a home for life. And next - hope to continue with "Sly" and my prospects - Guys Easy Jet - AQHA/PHBA 2005 Stallion (Frenchman Guy x Easy Jet Mare), Specialeyes Harley - APHA 2003 Mare (Specialeyes and Miss One Fox)and now of course One Gun Ta Fame - AQHA 2007(Firewater Ta Fame x Miss One Fox) Goals - To be happy and live life to the fullest, to get to ride to the best of my ability for as long as possible, and hopefully to futurity on the colts above, and as with any barrel racer's dream, NFR.
